Review: David Weeks' Skylab Technical Drawings

America's first Space Station, Skylab, is the subject of drawing set Number 5 from David Weeks. Skylab was built from a 200 series S-IVB and represented the only result from the Apollo Applications Program.

On five 24 X 36 sheets, David has illustrated the external details of Skylab, along with info on the Apollo CSM's used as ferrys. The damage done by the premature micrometeoroid shield deployment is depicted, as well as the two sun shades used to make the Orbital Assembly habitable. All are shown in 1/48th scale.

Sheet 5: On-Orbit Configuration

This sheet illustrates the Workshop from the top in full 1/48 scale, including a docked Apollo CSM. Workshop and ATM Solar Arrays are depicted fully deployed, minus the lost No. 2 wing. The two Solar shades deployed by the astronauts are shown along with their attachment methods.

References are noted along with a flight habitation history.

This is a fantastic set of drawings for those of us eager to model Skylab.

These, as well as the other drawing sets by David Weeks, are available through RealSpace Models.
