Recently I visited MLP #2, resting on it's mounts near the VAB. It had launched Columbia a few weeks beforehand and was undergoing the sandblasting and reconditioning required after each launch. Though not always visible in photographs, the MLP's are not all one color. The top deck area was painted a grey-green color while the sides were various shades of grey. All things considered, the MLP's look pretty good to be nearly 35 years old.The following photos are of the top deck details.
Thanks to Lisa and Tina of NASA PAO for arranging my visit.
