Saturn Ib Photos

This is the Saturn Ib on display at the Visitors Center at KSC. Its been out in the weather for years and shows it. The fins on the S-Ib stage were cut to allow it to be displayed on its side, and a square hole cut in the interstage to show off the J-2 engine. The window has glazed over and the J-2 removed (I believe) and placed out on the sidewalk. The CSM and SLA are the Facilities Verification Vehicle, used on Saturn V 500F. In 1993, the SM section had to be replaced with a newly built mockup due to excessive deterioration.
