The LUT provided access to each part of the Saturn V, from the S-IC to the Launch Escape System at the very top. Nine service arms extended to the umbilicals of each stage, supplying the stages with fuel, electricity, air-conditioning, etc.
LUT Dimensions
- Overall Height: 380 feet to top of tower, 398 feet 9 inches to top of crane
- Width: 60 feet by 111 feet, tapering to 40 square, measured from center of corner beams
- Height of levels: First two, 30 feet, next sixteen 20 feet tall.
- Approximate dimensions of first two levels decks: 1st, 50'X 84', 2nd- 22.5'X 58'
